HOME LIFE: Angie grew up in North Ogden, Utah but graduated from high school in Rexburg, Idaho. She was the youngest of 5 children and the only girl. She was a major 'Tom Boy', go figure. She married her husband, Brandon, when she was 18 years old and they have been married for 26 years. They have 5 children, 3 girls and 2 boys, and just became grandparents to their first grand-baby boy. As a child, she developed a love for horses. They have 5 horses and Angie and her husband love riding together. Their favorite things to do as a family are camping and playing volleyball on their home-made court in the front yard. They also raise Golden Retrievers with their 2 dogs Maverik and Miga.
EDUCATION: Angie graduated high school with a 3.9 GPA average; however, she literally had a fear of going to college, so she opted for the easy way out and became a hairstylist. She totally regrets not pursuing her athletic career and letting fear get the best of her. So...take it from her, go to college!!! She realized a little too late that her dream was to be a nurse, but she has been very blessed to be a stay at home mom and now a stay at home grandma! She is currently taking photography classes and pursuing a hobby that she loves.
VOLLEYBALL CAREER: Angie's volleyball career started in 8th grade. She had played basketball for years, but had no idea how to play the game of volleyball, but she thought it looked fun. During tryouts, she watched the girls that knew how to play and copied them. She was cut from the team, along with most of the other 8th graders, and was determined to try out again in 9th grade. She made the team and was a starter and earned awards for the most kills and MVP. She went on to develop a major love for the game. Angie continued to play for Weber High until she moved to Rexburg in 1990 where she attended Madison High School. Her senior year she sprained her ankle in an opening game and was out for the season. Angie did go on to play basketball that year and earned All-State awards for that sport.
COACHING CAREER: Angie has coached several years of basketball from rec play to high school, and she is so grateful for the opportunity to get her foot back in the door for the game that she loves, VOLLEYBALL! Her coaching abilities will contribute to the fundamentals of the game and will help players develop correct form and skills. Angie has loved helping to coach the Mtn. Peak Fall League this year.
WHY I COACH: "I coach because I am passionate and competitive and now that my knees and hips hurt I get to live what I love through kids that I coach! I coach because I love watching and teaching others to become passionate about something while developing an amazing talent. I enjoy the relationships that are made with these girls and watching their progression as they set goals and achieve them. It truly is an amazing thing to watch an athlete go from not being able to perform a skill to being able to practice and develop the skill to near perfection. It's glorious, and I love being a part of that with these girls!! I coach because I love volleyball and I'm so glad to be able to be a part of it!!!"
