HOME LIFE: Maddie grew up in North Logan, Utah and attended Sky View High School. She's lived in Cache Valley all her life, besides one small hiccup in fourth grade when her parents decided to move her family to Florida for one year. They quickly learned their lesson and moved back to the valley. She is the oldest of 4 children (two brothers and one sister). Maddie met her husband, Derek, after his friend asked her on a date and she ended up being taller than his friend. Derek took over and they dated for over 2 years before they were married in the Logan temple in May of 2016. Her husband was  a linebacker on the USU football team and studied Finance. Before having her sweet baby boy, Maddie worked at River Heights Post High with special education students and loved it.

EDUCATION: After graduating from Sky View in 2013, Maddie continued her education at Utah State University. She graduated from Utah State in 2016 with a degree in Family, Consumer, and Human Development and a minor in Psychology.

VOLLEYBALL CAREER: As a sophomore, Maddie was named The Herald Journal Newcomer of the Year. She was part of the 2012 4A State Championship team at Sky View and was named The Herald Journal All-Valley Volleyball player of the year, Salt Lake Tribune Utah 4A MVP, earned first-team all-state honors, was also named the 4A tournament MVP, and earned 4A All-Tournament Team accolades. During high school, she played for Mountain West Volleyball Club and Wildcat Volleyball Club. She continued her volleyball career at Utah State University for 4 years. Maddie was a preferred walk-on, but later earned a scholarship after working her way into the starting lineup following her freshman year. While playing, Maddie earned 3 time Academic All-Mountain West awards, Mountain West Scholar athlete honors, and was a 3 time Whitesides scholar athlete.

COACHING CAREER: Maddie coached her first club team during her freshman year of college and has been coaching ever since. She has helped with numerous Utah State volleyball camps, high school camps, and North Peak/Mountain Peak clinics. She has also done private tutoring, club teams (ages 15's-18's), and was assistant coach at Sky View. She is currently the head coach of Green Canyon High School.

WHY I COACH: "I coach because I LOVE volleyball. I am so passionate about the sport and want to share that passion with others. This sport has taught me so much about hard work, commitment, courage, confidence, trust, teamwork, and so much more. If I can impact just one person's life as a coach, it'll all be worth it."

FAVORITE QUOTE: "Somewhere behind the athlete you've become, and the hours of practices, and the coaches who have pushed you, is a little girl who fell in love with the game and never looked back. Play for her." -Mia Hamm
